In Episode 2 of “Psych Cinema”, we delved into the fascinating world of Logan. This episode was an exciting journey through action and reflection as I analyzed the layers of this impactful film. “Logan” isn’t just a superhero movie; it’s a cinematic masterpiece that defies genre conventions. Instead of focusing on relentless action and special effects, the film delves into character development and human relationships. This more intimate and reflective approach elevates “Logan” above other superhero movies, making it a perfect choice for in-depth analysis on my podcast “Psych Cinema”.
Although this story doesn’t exactly fit with the theme of Psych Cinema, I want to share a personal experience. I’ve always been a huge fan of the superhero world, and Wolverine (Logan) has been one of my favorites since I can remember. When I found out that “Logan” was going to be rated R, I was hugely disappointed because I still had four years to go before I could enter the theater without any problems.
One day, my family and I went to see “Beauty and the Beast”. After the movie, we discovered that “Logan” was playing in the next theater over. My sister and I, being underage, decided to try sneaking in. Luckily, the movie had just started when we snuck in.
At the end of the movie, the person cleaning the theater looked at us disapprovingly, and we, being naive, thought they were going to call the police. We hurried out of the theater, only to find our parents waiting outside, who obviously scolded us for our mischief.
Despite the scare and scolding, I don’t regret it at all. Every second of “Logan” was worth it. For me, it’s one of the best movies in the superhero genre, and that furtive experience made it even more memorable.
As for “The DRB Podcast”, we dove into the vast universe of movies with an episode dedicated to exploring the general theme of “Movies”. To my annoyance, these uncultured folks haven’t seen La La Land, so throughout the episode, I made sure to remind them to watch it… Although I believe they still haven’t seen it to this day, no matter how much I tell them. Oh well, they’re missing out on the beautiful experience of watching La La Land. Also, on this topic, I thought I was going to elaborate more, but I feel like I missed talking about many other movies that I love; and oddly enough, Logan is one of the movies that I said is a must-watch.
Until next time!
